The college halls echoed with the sounds of fierce rallies, thunderous smashes, and cheers of excitement as St. Joseph Vaz College hosted its annual Intramural Table Tennis Tournament on 4th and 5th July 2025. The event, aptly themed “Serve. Smash. Repeat.”, witnessed intense battles, unexpected upsets, and stellar performances from our talented students.

Mens’ Section: A Saga of Grit and Glory
Preliminary Rounds: Dominance and Drama
The tournament kicked off with electrifying matches:

  • Melfran Dias stormed past Raghav Shirodkar with a clean 2-0 victory, setting the tone for his dominant run.
  • Abhishek Chawdary showcased precision to defeat Vignesh Naik 2-0, while Sarth Nayak overpowered Iden Barretto.
  • Neeraj Saroj survived a nail-biter against Bhavesh Naik, clinching the match 2-1.
  • Walkovers and close fights added twists, with Veron Rocha and Alton Paes advancing through gritty performances.

Quarterfinals: Rising Stars Shine

  • Melfran Dias continued his rampage, defeating Abhishek Chawdary 2-0.
  • Neeraj Saroj edged out Sarth Nayak in a thrilling 2-1 comeback.
  • Sanford Dias emerged as a dark horse, crushing Reagan Rodrigues and Abhishek Thakur with flawless 2-0 wins.

Semifinals: Clash of Titans

  • Melfran Dias vs. Neeraj Saroj: A semifinal for the ages! Melfran’s relentless attacks narrowly overcame Neeraj’s resilience (2-1).
  • Sanford Dias vs. Veron Rocha: Sanford’s tactical brilliance sealed a straight-set victory (2-0).

Final Showdown: The Crown Finds Its King
In a masterclass of agility and strategy, Sanford Dias dominated the finals, sweeping Melfran Dias 3-0 to claim the championship! Veron Rocha secured third place after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Neeraj Saroj.

In a clash of styles, Sheraine Andrade triumphed over Seimoon Khazi 2-0, combining power and precision to lift the trophy. Srushti Naik claimed third place with a solid win over Isha Gomes.
