The Department of Physical Education and Sports, St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim-Goa, successfully organized the Intramural Table Tennis Tournament for the academic year 2026-27 on 10th and 11th July 2026 at the College Seminar Hall. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all years, showcasing exceptional talent, sportsmanship, and
competitive spirit.

The tournament was conducted with the primary objectives of promoting physical fitness and sports culture among students, providing a platform to showcase table tennis skills, fostering team spirit and discipline, and identifying talent for future inter-collegiate competitions. The event was held under the patronage of Rev. Prof. Simao R. Diniz, Administrator, and the guidance of Ms. Viona Correia, Vice Principal. Dr. Elroy Pinto, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, and Mr. Infancio Correia, Instructor in Physical Education, played pivotal roles in organizing and executing the tournament successfully.

Men’s Tournament
The Men’s category featured 10 participants competing in a knockout format comprising Round 1, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final. The participants included Aman (T.Y.B.Sc), Sachin (F.Y.B.Sc), Megh (F.Y.B.Sc), Sarth (T.Y.B.Sc), Reagan (S.Y.B.Sc), Alton (S.Y.B.Sc), Ashwin (F.Y.B.Sc), Raj (T.Y.B.Sc), Neeraj (T.Y.B.Sc), Tanmay (S.Y.B.Sc). The Men’s Final was played between Neeraj and Alton, with Neeraj (T.Y.B.Sc) emerging as the champion, while Alton (S.Y.B.Sc) secured the runner-up position. The 3rd place match was contested between Megh and Tanmay, with Megh (F.Y.B.Sc) clinching the bronze medal.

Women’s Tournament
The Women’s category featured 7 participants competing in a knockout format comprising Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final. The participants included Nidhi (T.Y.B.Sc), Jessiah (F.Y.B.Sc), Pratiksha (F.Y.B.Sc), Vidhita (T.Y.B.Sc), Nagina (F.Y.B.Sc), Aachal (T.Y.B.Sc), and Seimoon (T.Y.B.Sc). The Women’s Final was played between Seimoon and Vidhita, with Seimoon (T.Y.B.Sc) emerging victorious as the champion, while Vidhita (T.Y.B.Sc) finished as runner-up. The 3rd place match saw Nagina (F.Y.B.Sc) defeating Jessiah (F.Y.B.Sc) to secure the bronze medal.

The tournament witnessed intense rallies and competitive matches throughout both days. The Men’s Final between Neeraj and Alton was a thrilling encounter showcasing exceptional skill

and sportsmanship. Similarly, the Women’s Final between Seimoon and Vidhita was equally competitive and engaging. The 3rd place matches in both categories added to the excitement, with Megh and Nagina securing podium finishes. All matches were officiated fairly, and participants displayed exemplary conduct throughout the event. The enthusiastic participation and exceptional performances are a testament to the growing sports culture at St. Joseph Vaz College. The Department looks forward to organizing more such events to nurture talent and foster holistic development among students.
