The Department of Microbiology, St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, in collaboration with MBSI, organized a Microbe Model Making Activity for the students of Class X of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim on 18th July 2026 at 12:30 p.m. The activity was conducted at the high school with the objective of introducing students to the fascinating world of microorganisms through a fun, creative, and hands-on learning experience.

The participating students were divided into groups, and each group was provided with play dough. They were encouraged to create models of microorganisms of their choice using the play dough while applying their creativity and understanding of microbial forms. The activity generated great enthusiasm among the students, who actively collaborated with their teammates to design a variety of microbes.

After the completion of the activity, all the models were carefully evaluated based on creativity, accuracy, and overall presentation. The best models were selected, and the winning groups were awarded prizes. As a unique and meaningful token of appreciation, the winners received microbiology-themed bookmarks designed and prepared by the students of the Department of Microbiology, St. Joseph Vaz College.

To make the session more engaging and easily understandable, the concept of microbiology and the importance of microorganisms were also explained to the students in Konkani, the regional language.

The activity successfully combined scientific learning with creativity, helping the school students develop curiosity and interest in microbiology. It also provided an engaging platform for interaction between the college and school students, making science enjoyable and accessible. Overall, the event was well received and achieved its objective of promoting awareness about microorganisms through experiential learning.
