Movie Mania

The Department of Microbiology, in collaboration with the Microbiologists’ Society, India (MBSI), organized “Movie Mania: Life Beyond Limits – A Cinematic Journey into the World of Extremophiles” on 13 August 2026 at 12:15 p.m. in Classroom 201 for the students of the B.Sc. Microbiology programme.

The session provided students with an engaging and visually stimulating introduction to the fascinating world of extremophiles microorganisms capable of surviving and thriving in extreme environmental conditions. Through a cinematic approach, the students were taken on a journey exploring microbial life in environments characterised by conditions such as high salinity and high acidity. The session highlighted the remarkable adaptations and survival strategies that enable these microorganisms to exist in environments where most forms of life cannot survive.

The use of a movie-themed format made the learning experience interactive, exciting and enjoyable, while helping students connect microbiological concepts with real-world extreme environments. The students actively participated throughout the session and showed keen interest in understanding the unique characteristics and adaptations of extremophiles. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students asked questions and discussed various aspects of extremophilic microorganisms and their survival in extreme habitats. The enthusiastic participation of the students made the session an enriching and memorable learning experience.
