Annual Sports Day "Invictus 3.0"
St Joseph Vaz College and the St Joseph Vaz Institute of Education successfully hosted their annual sports meet, “Invictus 3.0,” bringing together B.Sc and D.El.Ed students for a day of competitive spirit and camaraderie. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Savio Fernandes, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at M.E.S Vasant Joshi College. Proceedings began with a guard of honor, a solemn prayer, and a march past, followed by a ceremonial torch relay led by Dr. Fernandes, after which athletes took the oath to set the stage for the day’s competitions.
In his welcome address, Rev. Prof. Simao Diniz, College Administrator, highlighted the role of sports in developing discipline and focus, while Dr. Fernandes lauded the event’s meticulous organization and officially declared the meet open. The day featured energetic aerobics and Zumba performances by students, alongside inter-house competitions including traditional races, sprints, tug of war, and relays. In the D.El.Ed program, Ms. Janesia Fernandes was honored as the Best Sportswoman.
For the B.Sc program, awards were presented to Ms. Khushnuma Baig (Best Sports Performer – Female), Mr. Vignesh Naik (Best Sports Performer – Male), Ms. Tanisha Mangueshkar (Best Athlete), Ms. Sanjana Sharma (Best Sportswoman), and Mr. Shreyas Morudkar (Best Sportsman). In the inter-house championship, Team Electrons emerged victorious with 1,725 points, while Teams Hydrophytes and Chromosomes tied as joint runners-up with 1,525 points each. Officiating Principal Ms. Viona Correia proposed the vote of thanks, concluding an event that celebrated athletic excellence, teamwork, and holistic development.
