Awareness Session on DrillBit Plagiarism Detection Software
The Department of Library organized an awareness session for the T.Y. B.Sc. students on 22nd January at 10:00 a.m. in the Seminar Hall to provide them with essential knowledge about the DrillBit Plagiarism Detection Software, which has been recently purchased by the college for evaluating student project reports for similarity.
The session was conducted by Ms. Manali Acharya, College Librarian. During the session, students were introduced to the concept of plagiarism and its significance in academic writing. The librarian explained why originality in project work is important and discussed the academic and ethical implications of plagiarism. Detailed information was provided on how plagiarism is detected using the DrillBit software, how similarity reports are generated, and how students can reduce similarity through proper paraphrasing and correct referencing.
Students were also informed about the acceptable similarity criteria for project submission and the role of plagiarism checking in the project evaluation process. Practical tips were shared to help students avoid plagiarism and submit original, well-prepared project reports.
A total of 26 T.Y. B.Sc. students actively participated in the session. The participants shared positive feedback and stated that the session helped them greatly in understanding plagiarism and the use of plagiarism detection software.
Overall, the session was informative and beneficial, and it successfully created awareness among students regarding ethical academic writing and plagiarism detection.
