Bottle Painting Competition

The Department of Chemistry organized a reagent bottle painting competition titled “TIME IN THE BOTTLE” on December 16, 2025. The event was held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The competition aimed to challenge B.Sc. undergraduate students to visually depict the Evolution of Chemistry, spanning from ancient alchemy to modern breakthroughs.

A total of 05 entries were received by the department. Each team was provided with a 250 ML standard transparent glass reagent bottle. All painting was required to be completed live within the one-hour duration using student-provided acrylic paints and materials.

Entries were judged based on a weighted scale totaling 100%:

  • Relevance to Theme & Concept (40%): Accuracy in depicting chemical milestones such as the Double Helix or Dalton’s Law.
  • Creativity & Originality (30%): Innovative use of the bottle’s 3D surface.
  • Aesthetic Appeal & Execution (30%): Neatness, use of color, and overall finish.

Esteemed Judges: The entries were evaluated by the following respected members of the college:

  • Dr. Fr. Bolmax Pereira, Assistant Professor in Botany
  • Dr. Alisha Satwani, Assistant Professor in Microbiology

After careful deliberation based on the aforementioned criteria, the following teams were declared winners:
Varad Parob and Kanak Babulo
Seimoon Khazi and Aanchal Naik

The competition successfully encouraged students to bridge the gap between artistic expression and scientific history. The live format showcased the participants’ ability to work under pressure while maintaining technical accuracy and creativity.
