The Department of Chemistry, IQAC and the Research and Development cell(RDC) of St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, in collaboration with IMA Tiswadi, DiabEndcore Super Speciality Clinic, organized a First Aid and CPR Training for the students of B. Sc., Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff and the Community on Tuesday, 26th September, 2023 at 10.00 a. m in the College Seminar Hall.

Dr. Melwin D’souza, the RDC coordinator introduced the resource person Dr. Manish Kushe, Endrocrinologist, IMA Tiswadi, DiabEndocare, Super Speciality Clinic, Panaji. Doctor explained about the significance of CPR. Further, he mentioned that Goa records the highest percentage of Diabetes across India.

He also explained about the difference between a Cardiac Arrest and a Heart Attack. Thereafter, the accompanying Doctor explained about ‘COLS’ (Compression only Life Support). She then explained the audience about the steps to be followed during the COLS process. The lecture was followed by a demonstration on how to give COLS. The glucose and hemoglobin level was also checked. It was a wonderful and helpful training session for all the participants.
