Ganesh Utsav Celebration at Adopted Village

“गणेश उत्सव: सेवेच्या हातांत, सुखाचो वांटो”

The Outreach and Extension Cell of St. Joseph Vaz College held a community programme on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Chapel, Dabolim. The event, organized for the Hindu families of the adopted village, was titled “गणेश उत्सव: सेवेच्या हातांत, सुखाचो वांटो” (Ganesh Utsav: Sharing Happiness through Service).

The Ganesh Utsav celebration was a heartwarming experience that brought together joy, tradition, and service. The Outreach and Extension Cell of St. Joseph Vaz College distributed festive kits to 20 families from the adopted village, helping them celebrate the festival with dignity. Convenor Ms. Manali Acharya welcomed the families, after which staff and students handed over the festive kits filled with essentials for the festival. The officiating Principal Ms. Viona Correia spoke about organizing such activities in future.
The simple act of sharing created an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness. Volunteers interacted with the families, exchanged festive greetings, and spoke about the purpose of the programme celebrating culture while reaching out with compassion. The gratitude expressed by the villagers and the smiles on their faces truly reflected the spirit of Ganesh Utsav.

The coordinators shared that such initiatives bring the college closer to the community and reinforce its commitment to service and empathy. The event ended on a positive note with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Bolmax Pereira, Assistant Professor of Botany.
