Independence Day
The students and staff of St. Joseph Vaz College, along with St. Joseph Vaz Institute of Education and Our Lady of Perpetual
Succour Institutions, came together in a spirit of unity and pride to observe the 79th Independence Day of our beloved nation in the
school quadrangle at 08:00 a.m.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem. A solemn prayer service was then offered, invoking God’s blessings for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of India.
The cultural programme that followed was a vibrant tribute to the nation’s rich history and sacrifices of its freedom fighters:
- The pre-primary students captivated the audience with a delightful fashion show depicting great freedom fighters, reminding us of their courage and determination.
- A melodious National Integration song echoed the message of unity in diversity.
- The high school students delivered inspiring speech and performed a powerful patriotic dance, celebrating India’s spirit of resilience and progress.
- The higher secondary students staged a thought-provoking mime performance, creatively highlighting the struggles of the past and the importance of safeguarding our hard-won freedom.
The highlight of the event was the address by the Administrator, Rev. Prof. Simão R. Diniz, who emphasized the importance of being responsible citizens, living harmoniously, and carrying forward the legacy of our freedom fighters by contributing positively to society and the nation. His words served as a reminder that true patriotism lies not only in remembrance but also in action.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by a school teacher, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event, followed by the distribution of snacks, which added warmth to the celebration.
