National Science Day
St. Joseph Vaz College celebrated National Science Day on March 1, 2025, with an engaging programme aimed at inspiring young minds. The event, organized by the college’s IQAC cell, welcomed students and teachers from three nearby schools: St. Joseph Vaz High School, Sancoale, Vidya Vihar High School, Cortalim, and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim. A total of
49 students and 03 teachers participated in the celebration.
The programme commenced with a prayer service and an inaugural session graced by Prof. Vithal Tilvi, an esteemed Professor at the Goa State Higher Education Council, and Acting Principal Ms. Angela Serrao. Prof. Tilvi delivered a captivating talk on “Space Frontiers: Below, Above, and Beyond”. Prof. Tilvi enthralled the audience with fascinating insights into galaxies, stars, astronauts, and space stations while shedding light on India’s remarkable space missions, including Mangalyaan, Chandrayaan, and Gaganyaan. He further enriched the session by demonstrating the functionality of a telescope, presenting inspiring images of the moon and distant stars, leaving students in absolute wonder.
Following the talk, the visiting school students explored the Chemistry, Botany, and Microbiology laboratories, where college students and teachers enthusiastically explained scientific concepts through live demonstrations. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Acting Principal and the singing of the National Anthem.
The National Science Day celebration at St. Joseph Vaz College successfully achieved its goal of promoting science and instilling a sense of curiosity and exploration in young students, leaving a lasting impact on their learning journey.
