National Youth Week

In celebration of National Youth week, St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim conducted a programme for the students and staff of the college on 20 th January 2024. The programme was organised under the aegis of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Technical Education, Directorate of Planning Statistics and Evaluation and Directorate of Information and Publicity.

The programme started with the inaugural function in which floral tributes were paid to Swami Vivekananda. This was followed by the address of the Principal Dr Maria Fonseca in which she highlighted the importance of the youth week and emphasized how Swami Vivekananda worked towards empowering youth.

Following this the first orientation session was conducted by Dr Pallavi Dakhne on the topic ‘Mental Fitness’. In her talk Dr Pallavi meticulously explained about what is happening in the young minds, stress, the importance of healthy coping lifestyle and emotional intelligence.

The second orientation session on the topic ‘Financial Literacy’ was conducted by CA Prasheel Kamat. Mr Prasheel highlighted the importance of financial planning, common financial mistakes, money management process, compounding interest and insurance.

The final orientation session was conducted by Engineer Rosalina Borges on the topic ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’. Ms Borges stressed upon the various schemes available to the student. She also spoke about My Bharat Portal and the opportunities that the youth have in and with Government.

The programme concluded with Ms Muskan Kumari, students council member of the college underlining the importance of the programme. Ms Angela Serrao the IQAC coordinator of the college proposed the vote of thanks. The compere for the programme was Assistant Professor Viona Correia.
