Participation at KALPAK 2026 – Research Poster Presentation
Dr. Alisha Satwani, along with two project groups from the Department of Microbiology, St. Joseph Vaz College, participated in KALPAK 2026 – Research Poster Presentation, held as part of the Valedictory Programme of Vidnyan Dhara 2026 (5th Edition) on 5th March 2026 at the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa. The event witnessed the presentation of a total of 41 research posters from undergraduate and postgraduate participants, showcasing a wide range of scientific studies and innovative research work. The participation of students provided an excellent platform for academic exchange, critical thinking, and exposure to current research trends.
Two project groups from the department actively presented their research findings. Notably, one group comprising five students Iden Barreto, Srushti Naik, Jade Pereira, Veron Rocha and Juvency Simoes presented a poster titled “Exploration of Halophilic enzyme producing microorganisms from fish scales and crude salt’” under the guidance of Dr. Alisha Satwani. Their work was highly appreciated by the judges for its scientific merit, presentation, and clarity of concepts, earning them the Best Poster Presentation
Award. The participation in KALPAK 2026 proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students, enhancing their research presentation skills and boosting their confidence. The achievement brought recognition to the Department of Microbiology and highlighted the quality of research being undertaken by the students under expert guidance.
