Rally Marks World AIDS Day

A rally on World AIDS Day was organized by the Red Ribbon Club of St. Joseph Vaz College on 10th December 2024. The rally aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, continuing the mission of World AIDS Day, which is observed on December 1st. Before the rally began, Ms. Aroma Diniz, the Convenor of the Red Ribbon Club, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need to educate the public on HIV/AIDS and eliminate the stigma surrounding HIV-positive individuals. She also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness and encouraging positive change within the community. The event saw the participation of 43 students and 4 staff members, who joined together to raise awareness and show support for the cause.

The rally commenced at 10:00 a.m. and followed a route from the college gate to Thane Market Cortalim and back. Participants carried placards and raised slogans to spread HIV/AIDS awareness to the local community. The rally concluded at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments for all the participants. This event successfully contributed to the ongoing efforts of the Red Ribbon Club to promote education and break the stigma surrounding HIV, while encouraging positive action and understanding among the college and the wider community.
