One day workshop on “Research Grant Writing” was organized by Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC), Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF) and Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) on 9th September 2023 for the faculty of Sciences from 9:30 am onwards at Directorate of Higher Education Porvorim – Goa. It was an enriching and interactive session on preparing grant proposals. The following topics were discussed:

Session 1: Research Grant writing – M. K Janarthan
Sir explained the different types of schemes that are available under GSRF and who can avail of these schemes. He also explained the different steps that are involved in preparing grant proposals, starting from the title, summary of the research proposal, objective, expected outcome, review of literature, work plan methodology, expert, budget and bibliography.

Session 2: Crafting Cogent proposals – Dr. Amrita Chatterjee
Ma’am spoke about the four main points in any proposal:
1. Idea
2. Planning
3. Strategy
4. Outcome

Session 3: Art and Craft of Proposal Writing – Dr. Rajeev Saraswat
Post lunch break Session 3 was taken over by Dr. Rajeev Saraswat. Sir explained to us the Do’s and Don’ts that we need to take care of when we are writing the grant proposals. Towards the end he also explained how the projects are processed.

Following this was the valedictory function.
