The Counselling Cell of St. Joseph Vaz College organized an informative session on Social Media Awareness in collaboration with JCI Vasco & Junior Jaycee Wing – JCI Vasco. The resource person for this session was Advocate SadikaBuddhaseth who has conducted many such sessions on social media awareness across Goa and has completed her LLM along with PGD in Criminal Jurisprudence from Pune University.

The Session was held on 28^th May 2022 at 12 p.m. The session began with a short prayer service followed by welcoming the guests introducing the members of JCI Vasco. Our Principal Dr. Maria A. A. R. Fonseca addressed the gathering after which, the resource person conducted her session. Adv. Sadika began with a quiz based on print & social media on dividing the students into teams. She explained about the importance of using media effectively. She also tried out a simple memory test for the students to build their attention span and test their memory. She spoke on various ways social media could be misused and how we could avoid such mistakes. She emphasized on promoting safe internet usage methods in order to avoid any kind of frauds, stalking or internet related malpractices. Adv. Sadika mentioned on ways to identify illicit behavior online and also helped students in understanding Cybercrime related issues with several acts and IPC sections which the students found very beneficial.

The president of JCI Vasco Adv. Sunil Loran addressed the gathering and advised the students to be cautious & alert while engaging with interactions online. The compere for the programme was Ms. Sabira Bi Shaikh, student of T.Y. B.Sc.who is a member of Jr. Jaycee Wing, JCI Vasco and is currently the Chairperson of the same. Our student Mr. ShivamSaroj was rewarded for his active participation during the session and answering the maximum number of questions correctly. The College Counsellor, Ms. Veloshka E. Da Costa, then proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded by 2 p.m. and the attendance was taken.
