St. Joseph Vaz College Launches Library Chatbot as Part of National Reading Month

As part of the ongoing National Reading Month celebrations (June 19 to July 18), the Library Department of St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, Goa, successfully launched the innovative SJVC Library Chatbot on Friday, July 11, 2025. The event was held in the college seminar hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, focusing on the importance of using digital library services.

The program began with a short prayer service led by Mr. Ludiloy Pereira, LDC (Library), followed by an introductory address by College Librarian Ms. Manali Acharya. She spoke about the significance of National Reading Month and highlighted the need to adopt technology for reading and research. She then invited the College Administrator, Rev. Prof. Simao R. Diniz, to officially inaugurate the chatbot.

After the inauguration, Ms. Acharya gave a detailed demonstration of the chatbot, explaining how students and faculty can now easily access library resources, OPAC, research guides, and digital services through a single platform.

Rev. Prof. Simao R. Diniz delivered an inspiring address encouraging students to take full advantage of the chatbot and emphasized the power of reading in both personal and academic development.

The event concluded with the Reading Day Pledge, led by Mr. Ludiloy Pereira, during which students and faculty reaffirmed their dedication to encouraging and nurturing reading habits. The SJVC Library Chatbot is a unique and user-friendly tool that marks a major step towards digital empowerment, transforming the way users engage with library resources.
