Women’s Sports Activity Day Promoted Fitness and Team Spirit

The Women Development Cell, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports of St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, Goa, organised a Women’s Sports Activity Day on 29th September at Sts. Philip and James Church Ground. The event brought together female teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students for an afternoon of sports, enthusiasm and active participation.

The highlight of the programme was the Leg Cricket Championship, which witnessed participants coming together with great energy and team spirit. The sporting activity provided an enjoyable break from their regular academic and professional routines while encouraging them to remain physically active and confident.

The event reflected the college’s continued efforts to encourage and empower women in various ways. Through sports, cultural activities, academic opportunities and other initiatives, the institution provides women with platforms to discover their abilities, build confidence and participate actively in campus life. The Sports Activity Day was another such initiative that emphasised that sports are not only about competition but also about fitness, self-confidence, teamwork and enjoyment.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the women of the college, who embraced the opportunity to step onto the field and showcase their sporting spirit. Their active involvement added vibrancy to the occasion and made the championship an engaging
experience.

The Women’s Sports Activity Day successfully highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for women to participate, express themselves and take the lead. Through such initiatives, the college continued to foster an environment where women were
encouraged to step forward, explore their potential and celebrate their strengths both on and off the field.
