National Girl Child Day
On the occasion of ‘National Girl Child Day’ on January 24th, the Women Development Cell, in collaboration with the Counseling Cell of St. Joseph Vaz College, organized a street play titled ‘Save a Girl Child’. The event aimed to raise awareness about the rights of girl children, eliminate gender-based biases, and promote education for girls. Eight students performed the play at both the College quadrangle and the Thane Market in Cortalim. The street play addressed crucial issues such as preventing female foeticide, combating gender bias, promoting girl child education, addressing child marriage, and highlighting the rights of girls. The performance took place at the college at 11:00 a.m. and later at the Thane Market in Cortalim at 11:30 a.m. The Cortalim village Panchayat provided refreshments for the participants.
