Rangoli Competition for the students of OLPS School
The Department of Microbiology at St. Joseph Vaz College, in collaboration with the Microbiologists Society of India (MBSI), organized a Rangoli Competition for the students of Grades VIIIth, IXth and Xth of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour (OLPS) School, Cortalim on 19th August, 2025 in the College Seminar Hall. The theme of the competition was “Various Shapes of Bacteria”, designed to promote scientific curiosity and artistic expression among school students.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students forming teams of up to three members. Each rangoli was created within a 1.5 ft radius circle and had to visually represent different bacterial shapes. The competition encouraged students to combine their creativity with scientific knowledge, making learning engaging and memorable. The originality of the artwork and its adherence to the theme formed the basis for evaluation.
The young participants showcased remarkable talent and ingenuity, turning a scientific concept into vibrant art. Prizes were awarded to the winners, and the top three rangolis were selected to represent the institution at the National Level Competition. For the secondary school, the three best entries were as follows:
1st place – Poorva Desai and Roma Naik
2nd place – Saisha Naik, Saideep Naik and Avnish Naik
3rd place- Vaishnavi Kumbhar and Aarushi Gosavi
The Rangoli Competition provided an excellent opportunity for school students to explore the world of microbiology in a fun and artistic way, while also encouraging teamwork and creative thinking.
