Vidnyan Dhara 2026 Sessions
As part of the 5th Edition of Vidnyan Dhara – Mega Science Series 2026, organized in celebration of National Science Day 2026, Dr. Aureen Lemos Godinho e Gomes served as a Vidnyan Dhara Mentor and conducted two outreach sessions aimed at inspiring students
towards the fascinating world of science, particularly microbiology.
The core objective of the sessions was to introduce students to the hidden yet essential roles of microorganisms in health, environment, and food fermentation, while fostering scientific curiosity and multidisciplinary thinking in alignment with NEP 2020.
Session 1
Date: 30th January 2026
Institution: VRDA’S Gauncar Higher Secondary School of Arts, Commerce and Vocational Studies
Participants: Approximately 80 students
Audience: Std. XI and XII
Highlights of the Session
- Introduction to microorganisms and their invisible yet powerful presence in daily life.
- Discussion on microbes as guardians of health, including their role in immunity, probiotics, and disease prevention.
- Explanation of microbes as masters of fermentation, covering examples such as curd formation, bread making, and other fermented foods.
- Interactive discussions and real-life examples to make scientific concepts relatable.

The session was conducted for approximately 60–90 minutes as per the guidelines. The official Vidnyan Dhara backdrop was displayed prior to the commencement of the talk. Students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their observations about microbial applications in everyday life.
Session 2
Date: 5th February 2026
Institution: BLOOMZ International School, Nuvem
Participants: Students of Std. VIII, IX (High School), and Std. XI (Science Stream)
Highlights of the Session
- Simplified explanation of microbes for middle and high school students.
- Emphasis on beneficial microbes and correcting common misconceptions that all microbes are harmful.
- Demonstration-based explanations on fermentation and microbial applications in food production.
- Encouragement to pursue science careers and develop scientific temper.

The session was interactive and tailored according to the academic level of the students. The official backdrop was displayed before the session began, and the event adhered strictly to the recommended schedule and duration.
Impact and Outcomes
- Enhanced awareness among students about the beneficial roles of microorganisms.
- Stimulated curiosity regarding microbiology and biotechnology.
- Encouraged students to appreciate science beyond textbooks through real-world applications.
- Strengthened collaboration between higher education faculty and school institutions.
Both sessions received positive engagement from students and faculty members. The initiative successfully contributed to the overarching goal of Vidnyan Dhara 2026 — inspiring young minds and cultivating interest in science across diverse disciplines.
Participation in Vidnyan Dhara 2026 was a rewarding and enriching experience. The sessions effectively communicated the importance of microbes in health and industry while motivating students to explore the wonders of science. The initiative continues to play a vital role in strengthening scientific outreach across the state.
