Nonviolence Week

The Counselling Cell in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club organized Nonviolence Week from 30th September to 4th October, with a series of activities highlighting the values of peace and nonviolence.

The week began on 30th September with the Nonviolence Pledge in the seminar hall. 60 students participated, each holding a candle as a symbol of peace. The pledge was led by Ms. Kshitija Gawas, and it was inspiring to see the hall lit with candles as students committed themselves to the path of nonviolence.

On 1st October, a Mosaic Art Competition was conducted with five pairs (10 students) participating. Using materials like paper, seeds, leaves, and beads, students created striking images of peace symbols such as doves, candles, and hearts. The activity showed how small pieces can come together to form a larger, meaningful picture.

The Poem Writing Competition followed on 3rd October, with five students presenting original poems on the theme of nonviolence. The creativity and depth of thought displayed in their verses reflected the power of words in promoting peace and unity.

The week concluded on 4th October with a Peace Rally. 42 students marched from the college gate to Cortalim Cross, holding placards and chanting slogans like “Violence divides, peace unites” and “Say no to hate, say yes to love.” The rally spread the message of nonviolence beyond the campus, drawing attention from the community.

Overall, Nonviolence Week was a meaningful and inspiring initiative that combined reflection, creativity, and action. It encouraged students to embrace peace as a way of life and to become advocates of nonviolence in their everyday actions.
