Blood Donation Camp
On October 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a successful Blood Donation Camp was organized for the general public, staff, and students of St. Joseph Vaz College. This event was a collaborative effort led by the Red Ribbon Club, the college Alumni, and the Department of Chemistry.
The camp commenced with a warm welcome from Tejasva Naik, President of the St. Joseph Vaz Alumni Committee, who greeted the attending doctors and blood donors. Following this, the coordinator, Dr. Melwin D’Souza, held a short prayer service. Dr. Pascol D’Souza Health officer delivered an impactful speech emphasizing the vital importance of blood donation in saving lives.
The dedicated team from Goa Medical College (GMC), consisting of ten staff members, was warmly received and honored with potted plants as a token of appreciation for their participation in the camp.
A total of 28 volunteers stepped forward to donate blood during the event. Each donor received a Blood Donor Card from GMC, along with refreshments to help them reenergize after their generous contributions. St. Joseph Vaz College was recognized for its efforts in organizing this crucial blood donation initiative.
The camp concluded at 1 p.m. with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Bolmax Pereira, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and medical staff for their contributions to the event’s success.
This blood donation camp not only fostered a spirit of community service but also raised awareness about the critical need for blood donations, reinforcing the message that every donation can make a significant difference.
