Goa Liberation Day

Liberation Day was observed on 19th December 2023 in the school quadrangle at 8:00 a.m. with the educational hub viz. St. Joseph Vaz College, St. Joseph Vaz Institute of Education, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Pre-Primary, Primary, secondary and Higher Secondary Schools along with the dignitaries: Principal of the College, Dr. Maria A. A. R. Fonseca; Coordinator of D.El.Ed programme, Dr. Allan Abreo; Headmaster of the school, and  coordinator of Higher secondary school, pre-primary and Primary school.

The programme began with hoisting of the National flag and singing of the National anthem, followed by the prayer service lead the students of the D.El.Ed .

The  S.Y.D.El.Ed students had performed with a small skit protraiting the scenario that today’s youth are travelling abroad while there are a few to fight the battles of Goa, while the F.Y.El.Ed displayed Pop-up Barzar: the Treasures of Goa- food, culture, traditions and occupations etc.

The Principal of the College addressed the gathering, in her speech she spoke about the freedom struggle during the Goan liberation period, the preservation of the biodiversity of Goa’s fauna and flora, and that we need to keep Goa clean, advising all students not to litter.

On behalf of herself and the Administrator, she appreciated the D.El.ED. for their cultural performance, beautiful backdrop, and for hosting the Liberation Day programme.

The programme ended at 8:45 a.m. with Coordinator of D.El.Ed programme proposing the Vote of the Thanks.

Everyone dispersed after refreshments.
