The Nature Club in association with Department of Botany supported by Goa State Biodiversity Board organised Vrikshamitra on 31^st July 2023 in the college campus.

The programme commenced with addressing the gathering by Father Prof. Simao R. Diniz who emphasized the importance of Vanamahotsav. Father Dr. Bolmax Pereira, enlightened the students and staff members about the Vrikshmitra programme. 200 plants were provided by Goa State Biodiversity Board. 25 groups consisting of 3 students and 1 teacher co-ordinator were formed by Nature Club. Each group planted 1 plant in the college campus thereby befriending the plant.

Father Prof. Simao R. Diniz planted Garcinia indica plant which belongs to family clusiaceae. The fruits from plant are used to relieve gastric problems like acidity, constipation and indigestion.

Record of each plant with their scientific name, date of planting, condition of plant will be maintained by Nature Club.

The objectives of this programme:

1) To inspire students and staff members to unit and plant the tree.

2) To create awareness about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring Environmental Stability.

Outcomes from this programme:

1) To create awareness about benefits of trees.

2) To encourage students to become, active in Environmental Conservation efforts.
